Made for M&S by Viviana Navarrete, Viña Leyda Winery from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
The grapes were hand-harvested. The must was fermented at low temperatures (12-13°C) in stainless steel tanks for 25 days until dry. A small proportion of this wine was aged in oak. The wine was left on its lees for three months.

From October – 250 stores.
Peachy and with some cat. A touch of fizz and not initially very obviously sauvignon but the finish is pure elder. Fresh and reasonable if atypical initially.

I've had this and a few other bottles marked "should really get round to opening soon" but are generally ignored as they are likely to be way past their best.

This one finally got its chance and if you notice it is almost exactly 2 years since Mel's note

Surprisingly, this appears remarkably fresh on the nose and tongue. Although the profile has evolved such that it is unrecognisable from Mel's note.

The aroma is freshly cut limes, fresh and powerful, quite pungent. The flavour is more of the same with some pith. Its actually really good. Very tangy and the concentration is amazing considering its age. It might be just me but the pith gets a little too much after one glass, a little bitter and slightly drying. But, leave for a while, have a snack or drink something else and come back to it and it is a delight again. Fresh and juicy lime fruit with good acidity. Possibly the best Chilean Sauvignon I have tasted. Will have to try a current vintage.

Yes, had seen that Ba. TN sounds totally different though. Mind you so did Mel's for the 08. The lime had subsided somewhat after several days and something else replaced it which I cannot put my finger on. Like honey but it wasn't honey. It was actually an improvement. I might get a few of the 09 and see if it develops the same way. Hold onto a couple for a while.

Seems like a decent quality producer. Mell loved the Sauv Gris. GK the PN. And we the Sauv Blanc over mulitple vintages. Good value too. Well done Secano Estate.
