Now this is something, a little gem, tho not little in taste. Immediate impact, almost spritzy tang and zingy, love the leapfrog in my mouth to the generous fruit and decent backbone of its structure. Easy drink, but depth and layers appreciated. Nuances change as it open out, tho would need to watch it doesnt get too warm...if i had tasted this before i got home...lol...I would have reversed the film and bought at least another there and then. You know, one needs to opptomise our opportunity. Well done to the blender and retailer the Co-op

Oh yes, I know the feeling! But then there's always another wine to tempt us just round the corner. Best to buy less rather than store it all, esp with the prospect of another hot summer just ahead.

If you like this, I recommend you try the Marananga Dam at M&S (made by Torbreck).

Indeed. Already have tried the marananga Dam 2004. Yes lovely and jammy. We might have similar tastes.

Why am I not turned-on by the word 'jammy'?

I wouldn't describe this as "jammy" at all. For me too "jammy" is a dirty word in wine terms.

The Marananga really needs a good few hours open tho, preferably overnight. Then it gets quite Chateauneufy IMO.

Similar tastes but different vocabulary maybe?

For me "jammy" reminds me of those overblown, overripe hot country wines often called "fruit bombs" . Just the sort of things I don't like. I like the Marananga cos it's quite restrained and yet has a very pure fruit quality. And you can't notice the oak at all, thank God!
