This is £13 full whack. Less 54% less 25% comes to ... um ... ah ... £4.60
Was a bit unusual and I couldn't put my finger on it until I looked deeper...

'Bernet Franc, Chambourcin, Charbono, Chardonnay, Riesling'.

WTF is that all about ? Well it's pleasant enough, lemony, some depth and mouthfeel and, in fact, damn good at £4.60 - but £13 ?????

Then I read...'We pressed the grapes as whole clusters to fully capture the purity and freshness of the juice, 30% of which we barrel-fermented and aged for 10 months in French/American oak to enhance texture and complexity. The balance was tank-fermented to accentuate the wine's fruitiness. Thirty percent of the blend also underwent malolactic fermentation to foster a rich, creamy mouthfeel, while 100% aged on the yeast lees for 10 months, with periodic stirring, to promote even greater richness'.

Ah so ! I'm off to get more in the offer, was OOS on line.

Excellent bargain, for the price, and being Mondavi, for the experience alone. That deal must be fairly unique to your, and may be a few other stores. Enjoy

Charbono, could only be a Californian clone

Charbono is a black-skinned grape variety, once known in France as Corbeau de Savoie. It is rarely grown in France these days, but it is grown to a limited extent in California’s Napa Valley and extensively in Argentina, where it is known as Bonarda. Charbono was once thought to be identical to Italy’s Dolcetto, but this theory has since been disproved.

As a varietal wine, Charbono is quite similar to Barbera, with its high acid and berryfruit aromas. The wines tend to be very dark in coloring, have high tannins and slight smoky characteristics. Charbono is also used in a handful of red wine blends.

:P :P :P :P :P

Ba, have you any 2009 Saint Veran Au Mont from M&S left. I miss it a lot. Last time I had a 2010 it was still too acidic.

If only...I think I only ever found 2 and they didn't last long.

If the weather holds the Ba circus will be going Usk, Blaenavon, Crickhowell, Brymawr, HoV, Monmouth, Chepstow in 10 days time.
I have some 2006 Central Valley SB that I could bring.

I look forward to it. However, I feel I must warn you, that, the last Englishman to bring an eight year old Chilean sb into Wales was nailed, by his testicles, to the Severn Bridge.

He daid dangling........and serve him right.

Bring a nice Sancerre.

Strange goings on. More often 'half-price' than not and a decent drop to boot. Must have had 18 of these, and maybe just going off the boil now, but still very quaffable.
Anything enjoyable at < £7 has to be a good deal at today's prices. This is a step up from that.
