Remove 'Marlborough' and 'SB' from the label and this becomes very enjoyable. France and Pinot Gris rear their heads. Pears, apricots with a smokey background.
Juuuust off-dry with a decent length at the end. Almost worth a £ at this offer price.

Ba,

Do you want intense unexpurgated and green Awatere valley MSB ? Raw, very dry and with attitude. Then consider the Blind River 2012. I'm not entirely sure you would ?

Look forward to a ripe and bumper 2013 NZ crop later this year.

My parents and brother are on a farm in the North Island and have been grumbling for the last couple months about drought which is always a good sign for wine - reminiscent of the great 04,09 & 10 vintages.

Thanks Viog, you understand my taste buds very well. I've not done any Awaterre '12, the one sample I tried became an unpleasant experience after the 1st mouthfull. I did try to work it at different temperatures, I feel sorry for the smaller boutique producers.

Older vines and well pruned Awaterre vineyards may have produced more pleasing wines for this 2012 vintage,

No, I'm not sure that I would either. Not keen on grapefruit, and green. One of the SCs was just tooooo much but those Vavs, Neds etc a couple of years ago were magical.

This has made it into day three. A bit sharper but I like this version as well.
