A while ago I swore never to buy this stuff again. Why oh why didn't I listen ?

Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssss...gusting. Add blackurrant and eucalyptus, call it cough medicine an it would still be vile.

£10 down the drain...literally.

Way too rich for me is this.

On Sunday Brunch last week thay had 3 sb's to taste. A South African, a Mondavi oak monster from the USA and Dog Point MSB . The woman wine pro gave the tasting notes for each before even tasting the wines. All generalisations about what sb should be rather than what was inside the actual bottles.

I missed her name. I wondered if it was McGreenfly.........I had a 2012 Casillero Del Diablo Casablanca sb tonight. Not much different to the Valle Central wines. Dry, acidic, watery textured wiine with a big splash of sharp citrus juice..

Pub dry white wine.....

Thanks for the warning Ba - I'd been a bit tempted to try this SB. There are a load a bullshit TNs around for newspapers and marketing that DO NOT tell anything about the true flavour, aroma and feel of a wine. I'm sick of cough mixture PN as you know, yet PN is coming on in leaps and bounds on the slopes of the Franschhoek valley SA. You may remember I did a TN about 2 years ago, and now Decanter have found another one that they rate as gold top (there were 4 trophy winner wines) for £17.99 they say. The other PNs were £58, £85 and another at only a tenner from TH vineyards in Leyda valley.

Goose, did you try the Dog Point MSB ? it has had a good reputation from Bob C.
Also BTW, that Brocard Dom de Prehy chablis that you liked from the Co-Op was still quite nice, a tad SOFT on the 2009, (correct flavour, full'ish '09 fruit yet light and balanced) I nearly drank a whole bottle in one evening - slides down beautifully with *peppery grilled trout with home made bread and low salt butter.

I should have used more subtle *white and red pepper corns with this wine I think ? - But no matter.

Not had the Dog Point. It's very expensive compared to the VM WR and the JE/SC etc.

2012's are hard to find at the mo unless you like the sweeties like Oyster Bay. I have an Explorer's Vineyard 2012 from the Co-Op. By it's nose it's proper blackcurranty but dilute. Remiiniscent of the CoOp Marlborough Reserve
