Grignan Les Adhemar is the new name for the Côte du Rhône appellation Coteaux du Tricastin. The old name was synonymous with the local nuclear powerstation and a uranium leak a few years ago, which is fair enough - I wouldn't ask for a pint of Windscale either.

Winner of Decanter's regional trophy, best rhone red < £10, who say "Interesting herb-pine infusion on a cassis and berry nose with liquorice notes, freshness and lots of variety. Blueberries, red cherries and squeezy red summer fruits with spice and leading to pebble touches."

At the £5 offer price it's a :qofgoodvalue:

The soft tannins make it very glugable and thankfully it doesn't seem to possess any luminous properties. Will buy more, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the best rhone red under £10 out there.

Thanks for this, yeah in the 60's plus a bit, I wore an old wind-up radio active watch for years. No one said anything.

Leading to pebble touches  radio active rocks. There is one being decomissioned at Winfrith - where ? On the Dorset coast, there used to be an atomic powered bouy 5 miles off.

You're right Wizz, that **comment from Decanter is a load of Bull Poopie, but at £6.99 they may have a point that it's good ! - Have a look in The Wine Society, there are quite a few southern Rhones in there for under a tenner. Some interesting Bin ends in there as well.

Small Rhone producers can knock the sh*ite out of the big guns, they just dont have the logistics or volume.

**Cdr Font de Blanche, Clos de Mont-Olivet 2009 at £7.59 in Maj is nice tipple and some authentic structure as well as a ripe grenache lift to the overall fruit mix - but then again, it is £2.59 more
