Maipo Valley, Chile. £8~9

A lush, leathery sweet Merlot. I think I opened this at its peak, a rich nose of sweet plum and baked fruit. Mellow oak, ripe and full with just enough tannins showing to firm things up. Lovely stuff, I wish all NW Merlot was like this.

I had an Errazuriz Merlot once. 14% alc but you didn't notice it. Intense chocolate taste.

Overpowering....

I could only handle a few sips.

I've been stealing reds from my cellar stock as well. A lot of pleasure from maturing reds, particularly one's own judgement :wink: , As well as the evolution - of course !
