By rich I mean full bodied almost as if a small part of the wine was fermented in oak. A classic example of a Marlborough ( in body not taste ) would be a Montana Reserve or a Grove Mill. Tesco Finest is also a lot like this. Rich and ripe. :(

Indeed Goose, I agree. I got to this wine in the end and bought the current offer vintage at less 33% during the wine festival, for just over a fiver a bottle.

some two years later and the next vintage on, and a night in the fridge !....I didn't really notice the cat and the nettles  I agree with the rest.

I was pretty pleased with it. The wine has a good deal of tropical stone fruit flavours buried in with the SB, and avoids that acidic & heavy pithy little gremlin, "the hairy green and tart oval sprog " very well. Sure thing, it is a bit bl**dy rich for MSB folks, and has a light lychee'ish nose. Against that though, the whopping Hollister Peaks chardonnay, I reviewed yesterday, it is a dainty job, and a good effort. The growers say that the Casablanca season was unusually cool. I was kindly sent a link by GK.

At the offer price, this 2010 Tapihue Block Casablanca SB gets my vote. At £7 or so, it is still a good Chilean SB deal

BTW, this current vintage improves when open in the fridge overnight. This one does not need to be drunk extra virgin, IMHO, it needs a bit of harmony time to give of its best.

So :qofgoodvalue: .
