Pungent currant bud and grapefruit. Identical in that sense to PB 19 but there the similarity ends.

This is acidic and pithy.

Gorgeous flavour though.

Buy the SE sb rose Ba, it's better than the Marks one by far. It's like dry sb without the acid

Drinkable straight out of the cellar. Powerful and fine MSB attributes, but an acidic finish which I don't like much.
Ashamed to say that I sent my 1st. text message today. Took about 6 mins to write 5 words, and cost more than my total 'phone bill for the last 2 yrs.

So does the acidity merely stop this from being considered excellent or does it totally ruin it?

It's £7.50 at the moment.

Just found this

Pithy, mineral, elder nose. Lovely taste. Just beautifully balanced. There’s fruit, but it isn’t sweet and OTT. It’s clearly acidic but just on the right side of sharp. Clean, pithy and long.

I think Mel was being tactful cos I used to love this and had rated the 06 very highly. It's a poorly made wine. Far too pithy. Just like the Estate Selection made by SC for Maj. This is slightly better but not by much. Not worth £7.50. Goldwater as I remember it is three leagues up.

Goldwater '10 is beautiful.
The last one I had on Saturday night and finished on my dear Misses's birthday supper on Sunday was exceptional. My dear Misses's was delighted with it. Goldwater does not deteriorate in the fridge overnight at all, possibly by a few degrees the wine improves with this treatment. My memory is rating Golwater above Vav 10 at this stage in its maturity, because it dances like a balerina on one's taste buds.

Goldwater '10 - is right up your street Mr G. Just now Right up there, perhaps....just one quarter notch drier for your palate would be then be perfect for you.

Pungency positively oozes from this wine at the mo.

G .....I've promoted Vav '09 and Gold'10 to my fine wine SB area on the rack. These along with best SC '09 (just 3) Oh block 6, good PF Annaud de Lassales '09 and CR Old Renwick '09. and 2 x JE Grey ghost '08 and CB'09.

TBF to anyone doing TN's let alone a MW, I feel that the tasting bench should be lined up with varientals from global regions. Fo me ! It is only then, that I could sort out the real beauties from the ducklings, and then sort the ducklings from the also ran and the naf.

Well, I bought one and opened it last night. I didn't find much pith but that could have gone by now, depending on storage conditions.

It's decent enough, but for that acidic finish which is almost ok at lower temps. A damn sight better than the maj Estate Selection but streets behind Goldwater which, as you know, I am in full agreement with Duncan.

Hmmm, Goldwater must've improved a lot over the last few months. I remember it as being a big step up on anything else at under a tenner but a big step down on PB 19.

I shall buy more !

It has G. There is more harmony and a certain delicacy. Of course, not the outright concentration of PB 19. You are looking for a subtle elegance, lightness and balance here. At the mo, It is not a palate thumper - but then again, nor a shy and retiring wine.

Very pale gold in the glass.

I hope you find some, And that the wine has been stored well since August. Hot store and showroom windows are a nightmare just now.

I take it back. The Vicars Choice '10 is terrible. It wasn't too bad when first opened at fridge temps, but once allowed to warm or left overnight it was foul. I considered taking it back but unfortunately there was not really enough left in the bottle, so the rest went down the drain.
