I can't remember why but I think it was a recommendation at a tasting or online or in a newspaper but I bought a bottle of

2003 Concha y Toro
Carménère
Terrunyo
Peumo Vineyard Block 27
Chile in 2006

in Somerfield for £4.99*

How I wished I'd bought a case or two cases!

Wonderful, blooming fantastic wine, maybe best I have had this year

Had last night with roast beef.

* I wonder how much it costs now

What a Bugger - eh ? As with the Flagstone - Mary-Le-Bow '03 & '05 I'm there, right on it, but I just dont seem to have the balls to capitalise; and then, I go back, there are 3, I can take them there and then, and I do  - But I don't track down a case, I dunno - throwing caution to the wind ?

Such is the way.

I don't understand what on earth you are on about here...

I see I paid £16 for the 2003 but the 2005/6 dropped down to £6.16 in the Majestic package.

Only 2 bottles left now...

Pontac,

How I wished I'd bought a case or two cases That is exactly how I saw it at the time.

I found the 03 in Majestic, and it was a wonderful wine. I paid about £9.99 ? When on special parcel offer, and took just a pair or was it 3 among other wines to try. Yes as you have said, it was £16 at full retail, and also, still quite good value.
I did return to Majestic quite promptly, but all the '03's were gone, but I found only a few of the '05s left, and still a great wine for the price. This particular wine was only distributed in small allocations with the bulk of the Flagstone red and white wine clearance

I googled the '03 after having been particularly impressed, only to find that you had left a TN on cellar tracker.

The point being that, (a) I missed phoning Maj straight away, to reserve or ask them to source more of the '03 vintage. Then (b), when I bought the '05 on spec, it was still damn good, yet I had not taken the risk of asking them to source a case from another store....Thinking that the '03 was an oustanding exception.

I had a chance of bagging a case of the '05 for about £85 or so (never as low as £6.16 here).

I also have 2 of the '05 left to mature, and one '03. I consider the Mary-Le-Bow a rather good wine, cleared at a silly price. I missed the opportunity.
