Brut cuvee, NV, around £10

A touch sweet but it suits this softer style of fizz with its tiny spray of bubbles, light and lemony with a clean chardonnay flavour, very pleasant indeed.

Im starting to come around to fizz, Im finding I much prefer the single variety wines to the traditional champagne blends.

The lightness and the lemon were fine for me but I found the sweetness to be of the type that has ruined far too many a MSB. Like sugar that has been added afterwards leaving the finished wine tasting a bit confected. I like the Lindauer basic which is the usual Champagne blend. Also £7.99 on offer at Maj. It has more body than the Jacob's Creek but is still light and lemony with a faint touch of biscuit and is dry without being harsh. I used to hate it but I prefer it now to the Special Reserve.

Montana have a new stylishly packaged Chardonnay Pinot blend which is £10.49 at the Co Op. If it's the same as the old one they did it will be as good as the Lindauer but not better so not worth the extra.

The Bluff Hill sparklers at Marks are all very good.

All that said, Ba's pick from Aldi looks as good as any if not better. I've never seen it but it's on my list of wines to try.
