I remembered that you can track the packages through the M&S website, so seeing that others have received theirs thought I'd check the status of mine.

Bit earlier Dunc = '62. Broke several records (hee hee) at the time and sold a million. An ACTUAL million.

No apples or lemons in mine. Marinated, blitzed and passed first-aid box (including the green plastic case).

Meet you in Chepstow Goose, or you in Swindon Dunc if you want 5.

Your Avatar - Kelly's Heroes, a particular favourite of mine.

Don't throw them into the Avon yet - let me think. I was in Stroud last week-end for lunch and a wine supping afternoon. Folleys Lane.

Wooten Bassett comes up once in a while as well

Did you really find it that bad Ba ?
Surprised it'd be a duff bottle. Wrong temp perhaps?

I've been pondering this and I recall band aid being a sign of chlorophenols from my brewing days. A quick bit of research and I find that chlorophenols are a factor in the development of Cork Taint, but that is a red herring, I believe, because the Summerhouse is screw cap.

However chlorophenols are created by a reaction between chlorine and phenols and from the article above

Quote:
While the human threshold for detecting TCA is measured in the single-digit parts per trillion, this can vary by several orders of magnitude depending on an individual's sensitivity. Detection is also complicated by the olfactory system's particularly quick habituation to TCA, making the smell less obvious on each subsequent sniff

So perhaps you have a sensitvity to chlorophenols caused by the use of chlorine as a steriliser by certain producers in certain wines, which goes completely undetected by the rest of us.

I have detected this phenomenon in one of my brews and it is a medicinal quality somewhat like germolene. Not very pleasant in beer. I've never found it in wine.

Undrinkable, vile, The Red block is little better but might just be blended, Nah! Offer now 5 + 5 at half way house for 2 bottles that I would like.

Flavour notes and nuances:

Tribs - That's a damn good and informative article.
I always reckonned that the sterilizing stuff, (Milton or whatever) put our babies off their bottles, and this was 3 decades ago. My youngest much preferred the real thing - and we had to wean her off it with great care. Interestingly, and wine related, it is with her that I discuss the flavours of home grown veg and best burgundy or Loire/MSB to a much greater extent - at Chistmas her glass is promoted forward with great subtlety, when she sees me smiling with something special on the table.

Don't use my vote, please.
The nasty aroma leapt out of both those Chars and I knew I would hate them. Still don't know what it is. Same with some Chablis and others. It's not just that I didn't particular like them..I had to wash my mouth out immediately after tasting.

not even sure I'm a yey on this GK.... it's ok for a budget white wine
Would reach for this again myself but it'll make for giving to the crowds at a BBQ or for my daughter's present to her teacher at the end of term

I'd much sooner draw for any of the tesco rieslings in this price range

This is my first M&S online wine purchase, how easy is it to return 6 of the 12 ? Can I return them in store?
