Lovely wine. Dry, flinty and floral. Much more Sancerre than NZ. Lacks the concentration of a good Loire but this is very nice and the bargain of 2011 so far for me.

Offer price down from £9.99.

Large stores only.*

G
* Tribs'll probably find some behind the 2010 Saint Clair made Reserve in his local petrol station. Probably between the baked beans and the curly wurly's

I think I've seen this before. Maybe in an old Somerfield.

Another coincidence. The MOT site to which I'm orft tomorrow is behind a large Co-op (was a Leo). Will recce this.

The Co-Op also had Crawford Farm 2010 for £4.99. This is a good example of an Awatere wine. Some bottles more intense than others. Lacks the concentration of Villa Maria's Clifford Bay Reserve which is the daddy of the tomato leaf and bramble style but is a good wine in it's own right.

Runestone 2010 which is garbage and Southern Block 2009 which sounds a bit dodgy and is untried by me.

The Anakena smells best whilst warm but tastes best when chilled to about 8c.

It's nice and by Chilean standards... very delicate.

I have a couple Crawford Farm 09 but the tomato leaf is long gone. Will see if I can find some of the 2010. £4.99 is a cracking price.

The Secano Estate SB is the only Chilean SB that has impressed me. Will see if I can find this and see how it compares.

There are millions of Co-op stores around here, but not a single 'large' one. We generally miss out on the 'not convenience stores' wines listed in Mel's offers.

Goose, anyone else please:

Please comment on Villa Maria Taylors Pass MSB, and if you know it well enough, which vintage would you want ?

Thanks.

Ah ...as I write, it just went out of stock on the Tesco offers. So not imperative to know now.

MrD,

I've had the 08 and the 09. Both richer and more austere versions of Clifford Bay. Classy enough but you'll be disappointed by comparison.

The 2010 would need to be a very big step up to even be CB's equal.

I cannot see you disliking TP but I cannot see you buying it twice either.

I do hope that makes sense.

If Saint Clair made wines from the Awatere Valley they'd make Clifford Bay.

Thank you, good Sir,
Yes, I do understand your comment, in fact, because it is tailored to my taste buds, and preferences for MSB, I am most grateful for your speedy reply
As is the way, the decision has been made for me, as other punters have cleared Tesco's stock in the interim.

Clifford Bay it is. But no Oddbins from whom I should have acquired before they folded.

I shall hold back on further MSB until it is found. I do remember, the '09 would still be your recomendation for my palate

Thank you Mr G. cheers.

None of those mentioned in mine - yet again !

I ask again, are your stores ordinary green / black Co-ops or MIDLAND Co-ops ??

Passed MOT, advisory rear disc. No problem, I don't use the brakes.

Forgot to mention. Tried a couple this morning.

No Anakena
Crawford Farm only Merlot and Pinot Grigio both £10.99

Crawford Farm went "half price" while I was in the shop. Got one.
I visited 4 stores 2 had Anakena Cha / Vio, but none the SB

Now don't get stroppy or we'll take it in turns to put band aids into your flock of woolly chenin blanc.

I don't remember you asking

I have two Co-Ops. One is s converted Somerfield that just sells Blossom Hill and one is a converted Leo which is huge and carries the whole wine range inc an increasing number of fine wines.

I am just (tee hee) p****d off that although I am within 3 miles of a dozen Co-ops, ex-Somerfields (some of which are ex-Kwik Saves (some of which are ex- Fine Fare)) and ex-Leo's, I have never seen some of the recommended bargains that several here present keep on about. Bah!

Strange isnt it, the human psyche. I saw the CF in CoOp this morning, reduced 'half-price' down to £4.99

As Ive previously paid £2.99 for it I feel I would be over-paying if I bought it now, even though I know the lower price was a till error.

However, I did pick up a bottle of Verdicchio, Castelli di Jesi Classico 2010 for £4.49, I liked the bottle shape 8)

I like that bottle too. Put flowers in the bottle, wash the car with what's in it
