The Grocer...

"Wagon Tree, a new South African wine brand, is being introduced into the UK by Treasury Wine Estates EMEA, formerly known as Foster’s EMEA.

Hitting shelves this month, the Wagon Tree range consists of a Chenin Blanc, a Rosé and a Cabernet Merlot from the Western Cape of South Africa. The supplier says Wagon Tree’s rrp of £5 is significantly higher than other brands on the market, to guarantee the retailer an increased profit margin".

So where else would it come from??

Is there any indication of

1) who makes it
2) where it was bottled
3) WO, if not the catch-all Western Cape

If we go back 4 years to 2007 we find this in the Telegraph...

One UK importer, Friarwood, is launching its own unofficial Fairtrade wine from South Africa called Wagon Tree later this year. It hopes that by doing away with the red tape it will be able to send up to £6 per case back to the wine company for local development.

It says...near the banks of the Breedekloof in the Western Cape.
Labelled as WO Western Cape, but nothing about bottling.
