....I don't like any of them. Sainsbury's wine range is garbage. Their TtD range is far and away the most overpriced, overhyped load of cheap ropey old tat masquarading as fine wine in all of Britain and Grove Mill part oak their sauvignons to create full bodied vanilla pod flavoured wines that couldn't taste less like MSB if they were a 15.5% Aussie chardonnay with a dash of gin. So why for fuff sake did I buy Sainsbury Taste the Difference Grove Mill Single Vineyard McCallum Estate MSB 2010 for £9.99 Probably cos the security guard caught me opening the bottle to smell the wine and said I had to pay for it. Bastard ! |

Our nearest super is a Sainsbury's, and it is in a poor area, but of a decent size. Can never get my head around their wine offers, as theirs are never ever listed on QO. Some wines not there at all. Now their prices have gone up, and not by just pennies, by 50p at least. Non-classy Bergerac red for 9.99? (€3.50 in France) Makutu Bay for 10.99? It is the petrol contents in the wine that causes this ? £6.99 is the new £5. Think I will stick to cheaper real ale instead, combined with the odd booze cruise. At least the French are not so daft that they try to sell you a Blue Nun for more than a fiver ! |

Agreed, now is as important a time as ever to be a savvy quaffer. I opened the first bottle of my homebrew real ale last weekend, flippin delicious, and just 50p a pint. Pick the nuts out of that one Mr Osborne. |

Indeed. I know I will never convince you real ale lovers of the wonders of a cold Stella but the pleasure I get from a few cans is far greater than the pleasure I get from drinking all but my very favourite wines. And as Stella costs just £4 for 4 tins then why pay more for sub standard wines....that are good for the price ....I am sure that good for the price is wine speak for avoid at any price Saint Clair and Stella for me from now on. Anyway, can't stop, got to order a mixed case of 12 from Maj. That'll be two SC's and err 10 cheaper wines to make up the numbers. The Venezeulan sauvignon for £6.99 looks good......made in sight of a mountain range and tailored for today's taste AND !!!! made from the same grape as Cloudy Bay and Sancerre. Can't gp wrong. |

I like Stella and I am a real ale lover. I like red wine, white wine, malt whisky, bourbon and some cocktails. What I drink depends what I'm in the mood for. You can't beat a nice cold lager on a hot sunny day. I had a few glasses of Samuel Adams Noble Pilsner whilst in Newark airport last week. Now that was delicious and refreshing. Expensive though. Although not as expensive as the Three Floyds Dreadnaught Ale I had in chicago. They have a wine bar called Vino Volo. You can buy a "flight" which is a taster of a selection of wines. I had a California Kings flight that was very good. Elara Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 was fantastic. |

I know I will never convince you real ale lovers of the wonders of a cold Stella Sorry G, this is where we part company. But I have to admit that it is a pleasure knowing that you will agree that convincing us to the contrary would be a foolhardy task for any canned fizzy drink consumer. Cans are convenient, particularly when sailing offshore, or hill walking and outdoor activities. What really gets my back-up, and unfortunately by association with other Stella drinkers, are the yobs that throw half drunk cans as missiles, (open air events that get out of hand) or just dump their empties all over the streets, and in our parks and our gardens.....or in the sea ! Not for me - makes me burp, and the Co2 bubbles can give you a headache. |
