Saw Mel's note on the '08 and hoped this would be better, but no. If it has said "Semillon" on the label it would be just acceptable at a fiver. No SB character whatsoever. Acidic petrol. Don't want another glass, will look again tomorrow. |

Asitappens, neither of those seem to have a mention yet. After all the JE hype even. Had lunch in Bulwark today, the shady places still had an icy covering and I had 2 serious moments on the bike. |

I haven't had a Vav since the 08 which was awful. Do you think i'd like the 09/10. I have to place a MW order soon. I am waiting for the 2010 Goldwater to appear but no sign yet. Some dozey bint of a female wine writer rated the La Grille at Majestic by Paul Buisse at £5.99 as being Sancerre like. Has anyone tried it. |

Well now Mr. Bach, I should charge for this but as it's you, just the 25 guineas. One needs to watch oneself here. There are 3 of these beasties, all with VERY similar labels. Two are from M.Buisse being the Vouvray and Tourains SB. The third is an Anjou CB which I like lots. The Vouvray is a bit sweet for me. As for the Vav, it may be on the warm side for those west of the Mississ, sorry Bristol Channel. |

I have just sent the Mother in Law with the 25 guineas. I shall send another 100 if you keep her until the New Year. Sainsbury have a barrel fermented CB by La Grille. It's not Buisse though. I have a sb loving friend who rates a SA'n oaked chenin by Brewer Raats (?) as his favourite wine of all time and he generally hates both chenin and oak. I think he used to get it from an Oddbins store in Southampton. |

Some bottle age has moved it up the integrated sophistication ladder as well. I agree with BC. For me 'a point' now, but holding in my store very well, and in Shez's warmer conditions by the sound of it. For me, Serve a tad cooler than you would a quality sancerre. Hurry though, Maj running lough. I remember seeing Goldwater '09 at Laithwaites fairrrrrrrly recently. |

Raats family wines are specialists in crafting exceptional wines from Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Bruwer Raats sources old vineyards with complex soils in Stellenbosch and the wines tend toward old world styling, renowned for finesse and long aging. They have earned a reputation internationally as a New World leader in both varieties. The benchmark for Chenin Blanc from South Africa, this is the 4th consecutive vintage to score over 90 points in the Wine Spectator magazine. Grapes are sourced from old vines from three vineyards in Stellenbosch, all characterised by their complex soils. Somehow both rich and intense yet elegant and delicate on the palate. Honeyed pear, butterscotch, citrus flavours complemented by a firm minerality and spicy edge. A profound wine that changes perspectives Nice things said elsewhwere. £11 drinkshop |
