Wow !!!

This wine has the same gorgeous flavour of the 09 Oh Block from St Clair but also the same dense concentration of Jackson Estate 07,

By dense concentration I mean the wine is rich but the richness comes from the concentrated flavour as opposed to oak or any naughty phenolicking about with grape skins and other assorted twaddle.

The 2010 is said by Bob to be a step down, 91 as opposed to 93, so I advise buying this especially as I am sure that wine will go on for a year or three yet.

Stunning

Thanks for this Mr G.

Sounds lovely - actually - with that depth of fruit and concentration.... Right-Up-My-Street.

You get a bottle and one half for your money, with that sort of depth

Nota bene Ba - not for swigging

I'm pleased for you, as if this had been disappointing, we would have needed those nice men in white coats. This is out of my price range, but for "phenolicking" you get the

So, in your opinion, is this better than both of those?

To me. the Oh Block has it as I just love pungency and lightness of body but MrD and most others would definitely give the VM the nod.

It has better legs.

Dunc is a leg man.

Don't supposee anyone has given Villa Maria SV Graham Vineyard a go ?

guess its out of Ba's prrice range andit doesn'e say Oh Block 6 on the label for goose.

"Graham vineyard is located in the coastal Dashwood area of the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. With a strong maritime influence, the vineyard is planted on soils consisting of shallow to deep silt and sandy loams overlaying gravel. Intensely pungent, this rich, racy wine shows ripe and exotic tropical, gooseberry and grassy notes, complemented with wonderfully balanced acidity"

probably not one for GG based on the description

I now find that I'm going off to teach the new MW students about tasting. Must remember "phenolicking about and assorted twaddle". Absolutely love it.

This is a great wine, but I find its a little too rich for me. It reminds me of the Vavasour '09 but perhaps is lower in acidity. It just doesn't seem as balanced and has a little more gooseberry tartness.

Some of you will love the richness of this wine, but it just isn't for me at this time. I have another bottle which I will be giving some time before opening.

I found I enjoyed this more when it was well chilled.

The '09 VM Taylors Pass is supposed to be something special too.

I had the 08 Taylor's Pass ( Awatere Valley ) and to be fair it was quite nice. What spoilt it for me was the fact that Clifford Bay ( also VM and Awatere Valley ) is better and they were the same price.

Just as Saint Clair has now ruined my enjoyment of lesser Wairau Valley wines Clifford Bay has ruined my enjoyment of other Awatere Valley wines.

I kinda like being ruined..

I'm jealous Shez.

I really like VM Reserve Clifford Bay, and, I dont have the '10, AND it has some evolution and keeping potential. That is great for a tenner, further Mr G approves, Iknew he would, cos he directed me to it for the '07 vintage.

I don't have the '10. That Vision Riesling Bio Bio Valley as well. Bugger ....

- I'm going to call a friend who lives in west london, whose due here this Crimble - Well spotted Shez -

Shez - Important - the Riesling that was in the top 28 was 2009
