Found a solitary one sitting on a shelf with no price label
Turned out to be ~6.99 which is reasonable value for a coonawarra cab with Katnook's name behind it

If you come across any 2006 on the shelf I would advise you give it a miss.
I would say this needs to be consumed now, I don't see any potential for aging and if anything it's probably past it's best on an 06 vintage
Rather surprising given the 06 founders block seems to have some legs left - I may have to revisit a bottle to confirm this

Anyway, I think this could be a pretty good value wine if you can pick it up on perhaps an 08 vintage (07 is probably ok too but I believe wasn't as good a vintage)

05 and 06 are what's on offer around here. I love both, but prefer the 06. I am really surprised you weren't impressed because I much prefer this to the FB 06 or 07. I've not had the Asda one for a little while though. I suspect a bad bottle.

I've got one in the rack and its about time I revisited so will let you know my thoughts.

Not sure it was a bad bottle, perhaps a little baked....
Under screw cap I wouldn't expect it to have suffered

It was actually your mentioning it in the founders block chat that made me pick it up
I can imagine it is pretty good, just it seemed a tad generic when compared to how I remember the FB
Maybe just the bottle, maybe just me

Look forward to hearing how you get on with the one in your stocks

I've opened my bottle of this tonight. I love it. To me it is a like the Katnook FB but with a dollop of fruit to make it drinkable

I did find the FB hard work which is surprising as I do tend to like full bodied and tannic reds. This, is different. I found more typical Cabernet nose on the Asda wine and although it is still fairly dry themore evident fruit balances it.

I do agree, though, that it is not one for cellaring. There is a brown tinge around the edges but I wouldn't say its past its best. I think the FB has many years left, in fact I won't touch my 07's for at least 12 months. This is a wine I know I can walk into Asda pick up, take home and be content that the ageing has been done for me.

Cheers Tribs

Agree about the brown hue to the wine
Will be interesting to see how you find it tomorrow
I drank mine over 3 days and have to say day 1 was the best
It was still drinkable on day 3 but that would depend on how you like your wine

I'll try and give it another go.
Have to say though that the Asda I got this in didn't have any more bottles or any evident shelf space so I'm wondering whether it's been discontinued there
Will give my other Asda a go to see whether they have any in stock

I don't think it'll reach 3 days  I'll try and make it last.

The wife picked up a couple more bottles tonight.. Its down to £5.99 at the mo.

deffo have to give my other Asda a bash then.
Is it still going on the 06 plate ?

Might give one of my FB another go now that it's back on offer at WR to see whether should stock up on a few more

Finished on the third day. Starting to slip. The structure is lacking which is not surprising and the fruit age is starting to show. Still quite nice, but best drunk day 1-2.
