Wasn't too sure about this as 2002 is supposedly a poor year for rioja, but this is indeed pretty decent stuff for the money.

Chaps, Popped into our local TEE on Friday for some bread/milk and had a wonder down to the wine section. Found this on a special at £4.87 Castillo de Montearagon Reserva 2002, Cariñena. Opened one that night and thought it was pretty decent stuff for the money, plenty of ripe fruit with tannings in the background. Found this info if it helps ?? Made by a big co-operative in the underrated Cariñena region, this blend of garnacha and tempranillo is packed with full, dark berry fruit, with pleasant oak. A good quaffer. Going back tonight to buy a case for everyday drinking. I would say this deserves a Value for Money sticker. Also they had Leffe blonde and Dark beers for £2.00 a bottle sadly I bought the last four, lets hope they have restocked over the weekend. Regards Richard |

Picked up the last seven 02 and found two 01 at the back !! £4.62 each with 5% off six bottles. Good stuff for mid week !! |
