Shezza - did you find any 2005 Yerring Station Pinot Noir ?

The '04 was better than I said - was teasing NW Pinot Noir. The 2005 vintage was a 9 over 10 Therefore, before going on a wild goose chase phoning round the network.....What was your opinion ?

Yerring Station 2004 tasted like baked Monthélie with a few unwanted flavour magnifyers which masked the mineral effect of the terroir, which was a pity.
I saved a glass for next day, and do not recommend doing so with this vintage, as it did turn jammy with a pectin / gelatine sort of note to the end palate.

Still, this is a start, and I suppose the ground in the Yarra and the climat, may be a little closer to the edges of Cote d'Or in a hot year, like 2003 ?

Re-written to be fair to the new world style.

You find me two glasses down a bottle of BF Muga Blanco, and just about to go out to a nice party, and so I MAY be feeling very positive about things. However, you boys don't half write a good tasting note.

Hi Duncan,

I didn't get round to visiting Maj so haven't been able to look out for the Yering Station PN
Is this one worth hunting down then?

Have been a bit tame in the case of wine buyinng (about time really!)
my bottle recycling box at home currently has just 5 bottles from 3.5 weeks usage !!

You will like Yarra Yerring PN value @ 9.99. You will prefer the '05 tho. The most realistic NW sub tenner PN by quite a margin.

You have a young family and lovely kids, while I have grown up daughters, grand childen (2 now) and one who occasionally brings posh Champagne when they stay-over.
6 since Easter Sunday - incl. 1 posh champers, 2 very open ones in the fridge door.....dont ask Ba

How was the Shelmadine Yarra PN ? Which vintage did you get - you were eyeing that up and down 5 weeks ago.

Just stopped off at waitrose on the way home hoping to catch the St Halletts GKR & PB on the last day of offer
Offer labels had been removed in anticipation for new ones due to go on tonight so was worried for a while I'd missed it until asking an assistant (should never doubt Mel's info). 3x GKR & 1x PB @ 5.30 each rather than 7.99

They had the Sheldermine 2008 on the shelves so a quick check on the web via iPhone to make sure the vintage was ok and I'm now 2 bottles better off (Tims wine blog swung it: tim on sheldermine)
Got an extra £2 odd off for buying 6 bottles so the sheldermine worked out 10.99 a bottle
that's my lot for Apr now in terms of buying vino

Shez, tis good.

I'm with Tim on this. However when I visited my local, only the '09 vintage was on offer, and like you, I was not sure about the '09 reviews as well. I did not have my Idea Pad with me, which is a powerful palm top, and I need a G3 subscription for it.

Am I a cheap skait ? - My daughters think so.

I shall get to Sheldermine 2008, Shez, glad you reminded me of the correct spelling !

It turns out that Tim was p*ssed off with vintage miss-statements - How many times have we told all the S/markets this FACT

funnily enough I'd just come back to correct my spelling:

You were correct with your initial post: Shelmardine

tasting note when I get round to cracking open a bottle

I popped into Waitrose today. I noticed a solitary Shel 08 on the shelf, so snaffled it on the basis of this thread. Thanks for the info guys.

I also grabbed a couple of neds and the Koonunga that was the pick of Mel's Aussie Cab/Shiraz tasting not so long ago. Plus the only bottle in store of Katnook Founders Block Cab '06.

my store was pretty we stocked with a number of the bottles on offer. Unfortunately my bank a/c isn't and my eyes were getting bigger than my wallet :(

Will have to try the Shelmerdine sooner rather than later I think as there were another 4 bottles on the shelve waiting to by snuffled but a £12 a pop and with 6 bottles already in my basket, I couldn't really justify it yesterday
