Blackcurrant and spice on the nose. Smooth blackcurrant with a only a hint (thankfully) of cherry. Typical Rhone spice but nicely subdued on the finish.

This is nearly as good as the Chapoutier Belleruche for a £1 less (both on offer). Lacks the finesse of Chapoutiers negociant Rhone, but we'll see how it tastes over the next couple of evenings.

I love the bottle. Completely different to the Chapoutier which is also nice and modern with a smooth rounded screwcap (and Braille!). This one has cork and is chunky and heavy with a grape logo and the words 'Plan de Dieu' moulded into it.

Plan de Dieu

Hey Tribs, that Belleruche you have there is the '08.
The 2007 4 star Rhone vintage is the one in my humble opinion, and the belleruche has a very good quality cork.

Interestingly, this cream cork expands rapidly after opening and you have to reseal the the bottle between glasses, with the cork upside down.

I seemed to have missed the ressurection of this thread.

My Belleruche has all been 07. All screwcap too. Is yours cork, Duncan?

A lot of my wines recently have had to have the cork upside down. :D I find the stoppers do not fit as well.

Sorry Tribs, I'd missed your reply.

Yep, my Bellawoose was all from trade importer Metzendorf, then supplied to Majestic, and had very high quality ivory cork stoppers, very few, if any at all dark brown faults in the bark. Wrapped also in soft metal foil

Glad you are with me on this Tribs - inserting a tight cork, prefereably the original is best for still wines. As Pontac says, pop the cork in the neck between serving.

Some of this executive wine para is too bl**dy gimicky.
