Oh my goodness!

When I say that a Barossa Shiraz is fragrant, I'm nowhere near the beauty of this Coutet. So many beautiful ripe rich aromas, all heavy and rotted, but fresh.

Fresh in the mouth, as a daisy. Only one bottle left. Bought at auction for threepence.

Just collected some wine from an auction held yesterday. I've bought some very old Barsac with which I was forced to buy some very old Bergerac Sec, which will go in the bin, and some Graves, which won't.

Also a batch of ancient Mosel, mostly in halves. 34 bottles for £80, but the halves are too old to be of any entertaining use. Light, aged Riesling with a hint of apple juice and some nuttiness. There's also 6 bottles of 89 Spatlese, which should be lovely

Mel, You've enjoyed one of these every 3 months * ! - Will you let the last one go to 20 ? How was the '62 ? Perhaps you should have shipped it on to Richard :wink: He goes for the pre-historic.

Enjoy - Beautiful wine they say.

I've drunk the Climens at 12 years near or month or so, following my 50th, it was a present, but of course, my sister who bought it convinced others in the garden at the time, that I ought to open it there and then; To which, I had no logical, or coherent defense.

According to David Peppercorn Climens & Coutet are quite similar.

* Who's counting

Fascinating! Glad somebody knows what I'm doing. The 62 is still in the shelf. It's my birth year (I know, hard to believe, etc) but needs to be drunk with those able to appreciate it and understand if it's fallen over itself and is now overblown, wrinkled and less energetic than previously.

You missed '61 Cheval Blanc by one year, shame!

That's what I say to my dear Misses and my grown up daughters - do they take any notice ?.........Well, I'll leave that question to the blokes round here.

I'm going to be a twice Grandpa this week - Congratulations to be sent here in the form of '02 Gevrey Chambertin 1er - Thank you very much.

'61, '51, '47 - Digital camera's weren't around when Terence Stamp and I were entertaining the ladies :wink:

Me.

My son was 1990, but the other two were stupid vintages of no worth.
