Bought this some time back at the beginning of the year after Mel had given it praise in a couple of her articles and when it was on disccount to 6.79 I couldn't agree more with everything Mel said ! The decription on the bottle and WR website reads "ripe red and black fruit flavours, hints of spice and a smooth chocolately, oaky finish" and I couldn't agree more Is opulent the right decription ?? this is a BIG rich powerful wine. Delicious flavours of blackcurrant and chocolate and a nice but not too heavy oaky finish I really liked it. so much so I'll give it my first ever edit: and just seen it's on offer for 22% off online but the offer runs out today ! Do I, don't I ???? |

Phone up your mates this evening. Then share the cost, is one way. Nice to see a *Star from you mate - damn good value as well. 2006 in Southern Australia: Barossa/McLaren Vale was a 94T so a keeper perhaps. I havent helped you - sorry shez Opulent is good - then Unctios with some laying down and settlement. I recon it will be proper wine if it's sponsored by Waitrose Shez - *good call. |

Can't really take the credit for this one - Is all Mel's doing Gonna split a case with work colleague. Thinking to replace one bottle with the Matusalem 30 year old Oloroso Dulce for myself as suggested in the WOW section Any other recommended good buys from WR at the moment that I can throw in to mix the case up a bit ? |

It's an abolutely cracking wine. Every time I serve it, it stops people in their tracks and they run off to stock up. I'm inclined to get some at the reduced rate, although I have no space to put it. m |

Although I generally avoid 14.5% wines, I may have to give this a go. |

Couldn't find anything else that lept out at me at WR that is currently on offer so it looks like its gonna be 11 reserve shiraz and a half bottle of the Matusalem (to enjoy xmas day with my brother) The Peter Lehmann Barossa Shiraz was tempting at 25% off down to £6.04 but I think the WR offering at 60p more is the better buy |

The WR Barossa beats all the Barossa Shirazes that I've tasted. |

Mel, that is nailing your colours to the mast Would you consider that the WR has any keeping qualities, and Could your appreciation of this one, be strapped to Barossa's say, below the £12 pb threshold for a 2006, and knowing you love Barrossa shiraz, perhaps even - a tad more. I too, am up to the gunwalls again - But - I could also ring around |

My experience of keeping Barossa Shiraz is very positive. I think this could be great in 5 years but even more than that. |

How does the TTD in conjunction with St Halletts offering compare ? your last tasting note gave it a good review. thinking its worth a dabble with tomorrow's upcoming 25% offer |

If the WR is 22% off I'd go for that. It's special and the Sains is good. |

Never got round to pulling the trigger last night and thus have missed the offer this time round It'll come again and I'll get involved next timme it does. After our discussion on Ribera vs Rioja, I'm suprised that you are such a fan of this as it was knock your socks off powerful Black as night and a bit of heat from the alcohol. The flavours though are quite delicious |

I did a ring round, my mates are fully stocked. Right - Get ready to kick yourself. We could have picked up just a few in store until closing time last night for £6.99 special offer. The folks in my neck of the woods, that read this site - went and cleared the shelves and stockroom out yesterday. I checked with a very friendly lady who looks after the wines in my local. She said it all went just like that. Will the re-stocking be the 2006 ? Peter Lehman makes the wine for WR - not completely confirmed We are rubbish at scoring - another own goal . |

Like Sainsburys, WR shiraz is produced by St Halletts Finished the bottle tonight. The oakiness on the finish has dispersed, found it to be a little hot tonight RP's vintage chart doesn't rate 07 for Barossa but think the WR 07 received the same awards as the 06 offering. I can hold out for the moment (besides... I popped down o Saisburys tonight ) |

I was in this afternoon as well. Had an asst. dozen plus some other groceries. There were at least 3 queuing at every checkout and many more in the one-basket lines. Two "supevisors" were having a fine conversation, and I asked them if I might be served today. One aggresively explained that they were busy, and that I had no idea how complicated it was to get more tills open. I gave her the handle of my trolley and told her to waste time returning it all to the shelves rather than serving me and making a profit. Walked out. |
