Post subject:  Wente Ca. Morning Fog Cha - Waitrose £8 > 6
Opening this was a bit like going into a house that has been unoccupied for years, not too nice. Can't really describe the taste, putrid meat maybe, burning rubber. Surely no-one ever buys this again...

Am I the only one who returns poor wine to the retailer for a refund?

If this was my wine (and I felt the same way about it), the cork would go back in and it would sit on a warm shelf for a week. Id then return it to the customer service desk and say its faulty / oxidised etc.

I have done this many times over the years and have yet to experience a problem getting a full refund. Not once has anyone challenged me or decided to taste it to make sure.

I do not pay for crap wine. No Sir.

Maybe I will. It's too much of a hassle fighting off layers of defensive staff.
Did take one back yonks ago. It had been "half price" when an across the board 30% offer came up. £11.99 > £5.99 > £4.19. They asked if I wanted a replacement or refund. I went for refund. Girly swiped it, delved into the till and emerged with £12. "Don't worry about the penny" she said. We argued for 3 mins, but she absolutely insisted that I HAD to have £12 or it would muck up the system.

Ba - With such an accurate and well crafted note as that, I can't help myself wanting to try some. :wink: Sounds superb, did ya get the whiff of old smelly underwear stuck down the back of the bedroom radiators as well.

No seriously Ba, you should take that offender back, even if it is supposed to taste weird. Is there a description on the back label. Waitrose will honour duff wine. They have refunded on some naff Nineth Island Tasmanian Pinot Noir I bought , I think 2004, I layed it down for 18 months only, cos it was unbalanced when i bought three. I paid for one to find out. It went to compost with a strong vinaigrette edge. I was given JL vouchers for 2 bottles, because of it's age, but no quibble.

What a bu**er eh !

Another one goes down the pan. Well this time it goes back Ba ! You will do this, surely. You have 3/4 qtrs of the bottle, bought yesterday or whatever. I would be happy to do it for you, if I was there.

Naff wine goes back for refund.

Lavvy gone. That wine was called Morning Fog ! was'it ?

Couldn't find pic of Jumble Sale whiff. Us old'uns know, like a drill sergeants jock, TMI - No offence meant - did some Navy stuff as a lad, cadet officer. Post war clothes Jumble was big biss in our village in the late 60's

Went into Waitrose yesterday for some offers and decided to take this back. I had paid £6 for it and they gave me a double-refund (at full price) of £16.
Good game, good game. Wonderful, smashing etc.

I like Waitrose. We have a small one very local, but has many of their fine wines. I have a raport with the women who looks after wine stocking at the store. It is small enough to be vaguely perochial

A great place to catch-up with all local folks and friends on Friday evening and Saturday mornings.

We only have one here, medium size, and it's on the boundaries of the "posh" areas. No music, no rattling cages/trollies. No kids playing football in the aisles and very few screaming babies / parents. Well worth the extras few pence I'd say.
