Grabbed these today- 4 x Tim Adams Semillon '04 @ £3.74 Not overly impressed with a recent '06, hoping the '04 is an improvement. 3x Montes Alpha Cab-Sauv '06 @ £4.49 There was lots on offer, some genuine deals. Anyone finding clearence offers in their local? |

Alpha Cab at 4.50 a bot, you have done good. Leave for a year or three to integrate and harmonize. By which time, you will get classy mint and oak with cedar notes. I know the wine quite well, which is a bit hyped, but perfectly good, and more than half-decent in firm and tannic vintages. When Alpha is soft, it aint much to rave and write home about. Here is Tom Cannavan's blog on Jimmy Hendrix Experience with Montes Alpha - Yeah, All Along the WatchTower http://www.wine-pages.com/organise/montes-alpha.htm Cheers, enjoy your bargains GK. So GK, which erotic number do we imbibe, and are sensually intoxicated by Voodoo Child ? |

Im not a Hendrix fan myself, he's also over-hyped IMO Yeah, I recon I like Motes Alpha cab more than you like Hendrix It did make it into the Nosey Parker 90 + club: French oak they say ! Wine Advocate The 2006 Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon has 10% Merlot in its blend. It received the identical barrel/tank regimen. Purple-colored, it exhibits aromas of cedar, spice box, tobacco, black currant, and blackberry. Layered yet elegant, it has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. Balanced and lengthy, it should drink well from 2009 to 2016. Score: 90. —Jay Miller, October 2008. Get some more GK, at 4.50 this 2006 is firm enough to go the distance. Try one before going mad though. I will look later today. I must have had a few softies in the most recent past. Inflation busting, its been a tenner since late 90's. |

Went Last night Nothing there really. A few very old whites at less 25% Chablis 1er 2001 x 3 - could be half dead, or musty hay'd out, and still £14.24 unknown mixed cru blend, with trading name ! Never heard of it before ? Mersault TF 2002 only 1 left and spoit label £14.99 badly stored, very good vintage, but grower Jose Chave, so past it's best ? Some Montes Alpha chardonnay 2006 - less 25%. quite a few at £6.85 Cotes due Rhone 2007 half price at £4.99 don't know that producer's wines ? Classic label So GK - You get store deals in your neck of the woods that are quite unique. |

I sometimes find myself near the Tesco in Cam, which is just off J14 of the M5. They have clearance wines, but my local, Stroud never seems to. Not much call for Tokaji or Tim Adams Semillon in Cam, I don't think. |
