Boschendal Grand Cuvee Sauvignon Blanc '08 reduced to £5.99 at Sainsburys.

Lovely wine, bracing acidity, I like.

Oddly, I have never had this. Are the flavours typical SA, ie asparagus like or fruity/grassy like Marlborough

When I first tasted this wine, last summer while holidaying in Pembrokeshire, I remember thinking- 'This cant be Sth African SB, its way too delicate'. I thought back to my experiences with the ultra-ripe Klein Constantia from Majestic I once had a thing for, and the grassy Spier SB's that always offered good VFM, the Bosch SB seemed a million miles away.

The '08 doesn’t have the reserve of the '07 but it continues its bright, zesty, herby character delivered with a feminine touch. I’m sure you'll find asparagus if you look hard enough.
