Herbal* with a tropical twist and light bodied.....but really quite nice.

This used to be so much better before Lion Nathan bought them in late 2002.

Brent Marris has left to concentrate on the Ned

7/10

I reckon Mel could probably identify the herb....i'm guessing basil but it's just a guess.

Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Sainsbury £8.99

Creamy, bottled gooseberry smell. Some fizz. Creamy taste. Crisp, but also rounded. Good.

no herbs, sorry

The herbs faded when the wine was properly chilled.....as did the fizz.

Different temps suit different wines so, if I can, I try and taste any new vintage warm..lightly chilled...chilled and cold.

Loire sauvs, generally, tend to be at their best when lightly chilled whilst Marlborough sb's seem best when almost cold.

Is this normal.....or do I need help.

Maybe I should just drink Welsh bitter....which is consistantly awful at all temperatures

Your level of devotion is very impressive. Keep at it. You could be spending your time with useless pursuits. This is much more valid and important than most male obsessions.

Surely if it's "almost cold", that means you can't taste it much?

Which could, of course, be a good thing for plenty of NZ Sauvignon :)

On the nose, I regularly pick up on coriander with NZ SB, its what I would look for if tasting blind. It’s probably a personal thing but it seems to nearly always be there.
